One that I recommend you read for guidelines on what attitudes to avoid is Missed Fortune by Douglas Andrew. His philosophy is that house values always go up, so buy a house, keep your monthly payments low for as long as possible, and invest the money you "save" from not spending money on your mortgage in something with a high rate of return. Genius (not!). If I were him I'd be in hiding until the economy turns around.

I'm interested to know what people would recommend to read, specifically books written during the recent financial situation. I'm mostly interested in books geared towards investors and investing.

Any recommendations?

The most popular books in my experience tend to be those of Malcolm Pryor - but they mainly concentrate on Spread Betting Strategies.

I don't know of any written recently but if I hear of anything good I'll pass on the details.

Excellent. I had never heard of him before, but I found this YouTube video of some of his methods. It looks very interesting.
